Located behind St. Mark's Square, in the peaceful Calle della Pietà, the Best Western Hotel Bisanzio occupies premises once used as a studio by Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important 16th-century Venetian sculptors. Vittoria, with an artist's eye, sought to find the best place to realize his own creative gift by choosing this ambience and enviable location. Calle della Pietà looks directly over the St. Mark's Basin studded with small islands, in particular the Isola di San Giorgio, an austere figure in a continually lively and changing scene.
It is only steps away from the most renowned walks in Venice, the "Riva degli Schiavoni", which leads to the tremendous entrance to St. Mark's Square between the Lion and St. Theodore columns. Guests are only a few minutes' walk from masterpieces such as the Chiesa di San Zaccaria, and icons such as San Giorgio dei Greci where they can admire the lions of the Arsenal, ancient heart of Venice's naval might.
Close to the hotel is the Chiesa della Pietà which replaced the Oratorio, where for many years Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741) taught and played, one of the greatest composers of the Italian Baroque.

From Tronchetto (Car Terminal):
by VAPORETTO (public transportation service) line 2 to the San Zaccaria stop which is only 150 metres from the Hotel. The trip takes 30 minutes. After disembarking, proceed along the Riva degli Schiavoni towards the Chiesa della Pietà. At the church, turn into the Calle della Pietà; the hotel is only steps away from this corner.
